This map is similar to the previous map except that it shows the situation during the Union assaults of June 14, 1863. The highlight of this day's attacks were the multiple, unsuccessful, and very costly assaults on the Confederate position known as Priest Cap by forces under Generals Weitzel and Paine. Fort Desperate also came under fierce attack. The fortification known as Citadel to the south was also subjected to strong attacks by units under General Dwight, this too was unsuccessful in breaching the Confederate defenses.
